Goober was a very important part of this family for many years. Beth and Goober shared a very strong bond, and she loved Goober’s dainty little paws. Goober liked to squeeze her finger with her paw while Beth held her.
My artistic heart has always been connected with our animal kin. Animals are my teachers, wherever the school may be. I learned profound lessons while I worked with chimpanzees and orangutans as a zookeeper (more patience, less ego!), and all animals continue to teach me, as long as I open my soul and become still.
Older Friends sometimes have many years of bonding between them, creating an understanding which is beyond words. “I used to look at Smokey and think, ‘If you were a little smarter you could tell me what you were thinking’, and he’d look at me like he was saying, ‘ If you were a little smarter, then I wouldn’t have to” – Fred Jungclaus
